YSS 2025 Theme: The Qur'an as the Covenant
The 2025 summit is focused on evaluating the words of Allah, not just as a collection of stories, knowledge, and law, but as a living contract between God and Mankind. When we reduce the Qur'an down to a set of rules, or something to be memorized arbitrarily, we come to see our scripture solely through a historical and often punitive lens. In reality, the Qur'an is a divine agreement between the timeless divinity of Allah and each one of us, individual, in this precise moment. Through the contractual framework of the Qur'an what can we understand about our rights, roles, and responsibilities in this life we've been given? Moreover, understanding the symmetric nature of a covenant, how can we connect the principles of divine justice, reciprocity, and equality in Allah's promises to our everyday lives? In the vast depths of the Qur'an, what role does storytelling, metaphor, analogy, and logical reasoning play in a covenant? What is a covenant in the first place, and how can we build an attitude of love and reverence for Allah's written word?
We hope to tackle these and many more questions at YSS 2025, surrounded by the wisdom and role models of our community leaders, as well as the inspirational minds of our peers.
